Here are 2 locust thorn sections from our property. Randomly cut; didn’t even get close to the biggest ones.
They are fantastic for lawn mower and JD Gator tires. The go right through some shoes too.
We have Hawthorn trees that are bad enough.
I know for certain they go through a baseball cap, scalp, and scrapes the skull.
Drove one right into the tip if my nose once also.
Bled like a stuck pig, but the finds were so good.🤣
Tractor tires get punctured from the thorns as well.

Detecting has its hazards.

My neighbors cut one down for firewood. They left the log so I ran it through my sawmill. Nice wood. Light colored with stripes. I cut slabs 2 1/2” thick to make benches. Should be good and dry by now.
Thoughts of sitting on those spikes....:laughing7:
Nice save on the log, would like to see a picture of the wood grain and colour.

Pepper, my mother set out a row of hawthorns on her property line. I hate trimming them so the guy that mows for her doesn’t quit! They are nasty!
OP, those would make some great frog gigs😂

Here’s one of the live edge honey locust planks. I wet it so you could see the nice color. This wood is not known for spalting but this one does have some. Now if I can find someone to plane it I’ll make a bench. I have one more plank with a lot of wane I’ll use for legs.

Very nice grain and color.

Yeah we had those honey locust trees in SWOK and yes indeed those thorns will go right through the sole of a work boot, and right on into your foot.
