When I opened the lid of this box I yelled OMG!

Not many silver enders there. There are 3 shining silver proof enders smiling at me! One shows 1969-S obverse. The other two enders show cameo reverse.
Anyone want to guess how many silver proofs in this box?
I will update later after I finish all the boxes.

What the heck are silver proofs doing in Circulation ?? ??? Is there or was there every such a thing as Business proofs in silver?? :icon_scratch:

Keep @ it and HH !! :D ;D

Eager with anticipation for your totals!!! :thumbsup:

HH,

$ilver$urfer :hello:

Funny you posted this. Found my first silver proof last night in over a year. A nice shiney 2010 S impaired silver proof. Nice box, hope you score a nice pile of AG.

All US proof coins were not meant for circulation. All are sold in proof sets, whether silver or clad. People break open their proof sets and cash in the coins because they want paper money to spend. Most likely not done by the original owner of the proof sets but by relatives or thieves.

Congratulations...nice Frosty 69.

Although the impaired clad proofs have lost their appeal to me...(I've completed 2 full sets from 71-2009), but hate to throw them back because they are an easy indicator when something new is showing up in the boxes.

Silver proofs however are another story...I love those things whether they are 40%'s or 90's...please post soon to let us know how you did...if the reverse peeker's are silver, I'm guessing you got at least 15 silver proofs.

Happy Hunting.

Here is the update:

7 1964 proofs, most with frosty cameo;
23 1969-S proofs, most with frosty cameo or deep cameo;
No 1968-S or 1970-S or 1965-67 sms coins? :icon_scratch:

Too bad most of these coins have finger prints or other blots on them.
A very nice 1976-s non-proof silver, a Greek coin (my first), and a Jamaican coin;

This is a nice surprise for me. Normally in a whole year I only found a few silver proofs.

I find it interesting that all those silver proofs ended up in one box. I can see someone busting open 1 proof set and cashing it in but all those silver proofs in one box would make an interesting story. Congrats,great box. :icon_thumleft:

Very nice! Maybe try some acetone soaking on the proofs to get rid of some of the fingerprint smudges. Would love to find some silver proofs, none so far.

Nice finds. Some of the 1964's look a little toned. They make interesting coins. Like Rich mentioned, about a month or two ago, I got two Proof Franklin's from a box. A 1959 and 1963. They were in great shape too!
Congrats
