Not a detecting find, but need help ID'ing. Hope U don't mind!

This is my sisters latest find. She goes to estate sales, etc. It's a stick lined with bones and feathers and she describes it as 'creepy and disturbing in a cool way'. She lives 100+ miles from me and sent me pics and I told her I'd post them here to get some valuable input from the pros. Hope you don't mind. She got it from a house in Milwaukee. Some said it was Indian, some have suggested African. Any ideas anybody? And thanks in advance!

Looks like something a witch doctor, vodoo, or an american indian might use in a ritual

.... I would personally leave it alone. Maybe you might think I am a little strange, but ::)

Nope, I totally understand where you're coming from. Getting something like this would make a great start to a Stephen King story or something.

Sorry I can't ID it, but it's pretty cool. I might make something like that to spur conversation. I have lots of bones, feathers and sticks.

I don't think Jimmy Hoffa would look that good!!!! :-)

Seriously though, it kind of looks like a what we used to call a "Ku Stick". The Indians used them in their dances. They would tie feathers, bits of leather, and other pieces of animals onto them.

VOODOO your cursed from the metal detecting gods LOL

Uh had some old hippies live near me used to make these sort of things. As in this example, they did not know how to use the old ways of binding materials by using true spirit mediums. So they used cheap twine instead, sometimes mixing mediums that were not meant to be mixed, bones of grounded animals and feathers of winged animals, bound by wood spirits. Geez, I'm telling ya it's one or the other, not all at once!

A witch doctor could go crazy around here! :tard:

PBK beat me to it. I agree, it's an Indian spirit stick.
I have one that is a walking stick. It's supposed to
keep evil spirits away when you are hiking.

You might ask Country Girl what her opinion is. She has extensive feather experience.grin2.gif

Definately native american. Almost certainly a spirit stick. Those look to be eagle feathers but I could be wrong.
