I had a 10;30 A.M. dental appointment yesterday. After my dentist finished what he had to do. We discussed some of my metal detecting adventures. I showed him some pictures of some of my finds from Friday. Then we downloaded the NYC Parks Metal Detecting Permit Application. Turns out that his family has some property in Delaware County, N.Y. This guy is chomping at the bit. I will suggest a CTX 3030 and I know he can afford it. Especially with the price he is charging me. Of course, once he is ready, I might have to go up there and give him a few pointers.
So I go home, wash the bike, and load up my gear in preparation for a hunt at a park that gave up some silver last week.
It was 2 P.M. when I started to swing the coil. At best, I might get in a 5 hour hunt before the sun sets. My very first coin is a Mercury Dime.
That was followed by a Silver Washington Quarter. Then a Wheat Penny and a few clad coins. At 3 P.M.,, I dig a Barber Dime.
This is where the Dilemma begins. I now have a Mercury and a Barber Dime. That is an open ended possibility for a Silver Dime Trifecta. This park has given up Seated Dimes in the past. I would settle for a Silver Roosevelt. I didn't even think about a Quadfecta.
I'm digging away. Not taking any chances that a 12-44 on the CTX just might be a Silver Dime. It has happened before. Usually, a silver dime will come in as a 12-45 signal. Well, the hours moved on and the temperatures started to drop. As the sun started to leave the sky, it got chilly. I finally had to surrender to the fact that there would be no Trifecta today. It was a quality problem but not a bad Dilemma to have.

Nice silvers for sure. So you missed a goal. Not a huge loss! That barber has a whole lot of detail on it. Fantastic

Awesome hat trick with the silver.. I'll take that any day.

Great hunt I found a coin spill 3 mercs a buffolo no date and a 1909 vdb penny best hunt for silver I ever had, looks like you did great. The coins almost look new I love the pic of the area your hunting looks like a nice serine area. Great Finds.

Congrats on the 3 silvers and the wheat. :occasion14: I was rooting for you ATW. Three silvers in a hunt makes the time fly by. Maybe next time the trifecta will materialize. :dontknow:

If you head up to Delaware county with the dentist let me know im just over the hill in Otsego county . Be nice to put a face to the name

Thank you,
I have hunted up in Delaware County before.
Lots of silver and relics up there.
One of the guys on the job is part owner of a couple of hundred acres up in Otsego. It is close to Franklin. Lots of overgrown grass and weeds. He uses the farm for hunting
I'll give you a shout if we solidify any plans.
Thanks again.

What a hunt!!....fantastic

That's a great hunt, congrats!

Good hunt, and very nice Barber!

All I managed yesterday was $2.42 in clad and memorials for my first hunt since I fell and broke a rib 6 weeks ago.

Nice job ATW. 3 silvers in a hunt is a good hunt, & you had a dilemma most people would like to have.

That Barber and Merc dime are in fantastic shape! Really nice finds. I wish I had your problems:laughing7:

Well done ATW! Nice hand full of treasure sir.

Sorry to hear about the broken rib. Where I was hunting, , you have to be part Mountain Goat.

Nice silvers and other cool finds!
Congrats
