Tough Day, The rain and snow started on New Years Eve. The freezing rain had left a good glaze on everything, then it started snowing and by the end of New Years day we had a good .25 inch of snow on top of ice.
It was not bad as snow and ice go but the field hunting was put on hold. Then the temps started to rain as the warm front moved in to the area and with it, the snow was melted. The rain and drizzle lasted the entire night, and by morning of the 2nd the snow was gone from the fields.
I hit the fields and soon found it was like walking in oatmeal.
Most of the fields were clear, but in some area the cornstalk and bean tended to gather and muck up the boots. I walked 6.75 miles in the muck over the course of the day, taking my time slowly walking, cleaning my boots often. Stopping and looking around resting my legs.
I would not rank the field conditions as good, but good in the manner of visible mud. Very wet.
First point
nice point
A very nice point tip. well shaped
Point beaten up pretty good.
A small blade
Heading out, gotta clean off the hoofs
In this photo, A is an Attica Chert - AKA Indiana Green blade tip.
B is an Coshocton Chert basal part
I found in the fields flint debitage material: Harrison County Flint, Flint Ridge, Coshocton Chert, Jeffersonville Flint, Laurel Chert, and a few unidentified.
Sunday morning I am walking not like a mid-60s guy but more like a 80 plus old man.
