I have to say that I am pretty discouraged that you get no support from the east coast prospecting community! A lot different on the other coast.

I live in the Shenandoah Valley area and am new to metal detecting, let me know if you find out anything ! thanks

Don't really know a lot about metal detection, but I have heard of some great finds! I went dredging a few weeks ago and found a nice picker!

Anybody out there?

I'm here. Just saw the post. I dredged once in Maine, got a few pickers. I'm in Maryland, but don't explore too much anymore. Too creaky these days. I mainly detect beaches now. It's easy walking.

Looking to take the dredge out!

In Maryland I think it's a no-no. We could dig up my front lawn, there's very small gold in the creek. But in MD I'm pretty sure you can't dredge. Might hurt a minnow. Look near the town of Goldvein, VA and try the Rappahannock just west/north of Fredericksburg. Check out the laws first.

Went out on the Rapidan earlier in the year with some people from the area. I wish I could get in Potomac, but it's a no no. Have to look into the Maryland rules.
