New to this site. Found these metal detecting in northern Arizona near meteor crater. The bullet jacket is stamped with 38 W.C.F. USCC. The tin with the roll top is stamped on the bottom with the letters HORVEG and the other tin is stamped with MODEL OF 1916 with s.40.1918 under that. Any info would help. Found in the middle of nowhere all within ten feet of each other. Thanks KennyG

The can is a military ration can for meat.

Antique knick-knack frame made in Norvege (Norway) and originally shipped packed with sardines.

Can with key probably held sardines or herring. The other tin piece is the lid of a model 1916 meat can, a reusable container issued to the U.S. army to carry the bacon issued in the days before C-rations. The cartridge case (it is not a “bullet jacket”, which is something entirely different) is from a .38WCF cartridge also called a .38-40. It was introduced about 1879 and is still made. They were used in Colt revolvers and Winchester and Marlin rifles among others. The USCC stands for U.S.Cartridge Co., which ceased operations about 1939.

Y'all take it easy on the guy. He is my son so he already has one strike against him!:laughing7: Plus, he is new to detecting. I thank all of you who helped him with his first finds.

Well I note that since none of the items have holes in them, if they were used together for target practice, then the shooter didn't have very good aim. :)

Welcome to TreasureNet K.C.!

Congrats on the recoveries. That climate you were/are in is good to relics.
Here in the midwest they would have been mostly rusty dust...

History in your hand. People before you long gone handled the same relics you recovered... That's something.
Military rations in such a container I've not seen. Interesting...

Thanks everyone for your time and info. I was stoked just to clean up some litter really cool that it has history and a story as well. If anyone knows of any detector clubs in northern AZ or has any info historic sites that would help a lot.
