I walked this site a few years ago, the Randleman Dam Project site. Just a few years back, before the dam was complete, I parked on a side road and asked permission from a nearby farm house occupant. The lady that came to the door was of spanish descent and spoke no English, I spoke no Spanish. Many no trespassing signs lined the future lake banks but none behind this house and the lady I spoke to shrugged her shoulders like she did not care so I looked around. I was looking for arrowheads and old bottles that day but I had no luck, not even a flake! I did find the remains of an old grist mill dam, but no grist stone. Someone over the years must have used the place as a vast trash dump. I only found new glass shards, trash, tires, etc. It was a sad shame as there must have been some great history there but long forgotten and covered over by 1970'-1990's trash. It is now all under water. :(
