I found these in the Cajon Pass in southern California, in the burned area near the creek. There's a lot of quartz in the area but these were of interest. Thanks for your help- I'm super new at this.

Also, what do I do with my gold if I find it?? 1489529136700-782881317.jpg

CooperCabra... Welcome to Treasure Net! We hope you will tarry with us and show more of your' finds and share stories of your treasure hunts!

It appears that you have an assortment of Schist (Metamorphic) and Quartz rocks. The location where found may be an area between Igneous and Sedimentary zones. I would advise to look for more Quartz and Feldspars which may hold gems such as Tourmaline, Beryls (Emerald, Aquamarine, Morganite, Heliodor and Goshenite') as well as Rubies, Sapphires, an assortment of Garnets and a few others. There is also the possibility of Gold in the area or nearby.

In the Angeles forest where you are you will find that there are all kinds of possibilities of finding gems and gold, there is a corundum deposit (ruby ,sapphire) if you Google it you can find the location but just know that they won't be gem quality or it wouldn't be on the internet. But for a collector (rockhound) they will be an addition to your collection.
