I have been window shopping for some time now. I am just starting out in the MD world. I have been deciding between 2 machines, the Fisher F2 and the Ace 250. Both are about the same in price but Fisher can come with more coils. I then saw the GO-Find series. I am Leary about that cause its so new still. I live in NWPA about an hour from the lake. I want something that I can learn with and not get bored. Also I know there are a lot of companies out there. I looked at the big one in FL but don't like there options that come with it. I was given an Fisher GB2 but that is not suited for this area. any help will be great. Thanks

well i dont think you can go wrong with either unit. i just went form a whites prizm 3 to a fisher F4 just need thawed ground to work with! but it may be a matter of bang for your buck, and extra coil is nice if you can get for athe same price. both units are tried and tested and still in production which is good. both are trusted brands too so you cant go wrong there. i would look at both and if you can test both go that way, check for comfort, weight, ease of controls, speaker volume, location of headphone jack, stuff like that. good luck adn happy hunting! oh and welcome to the world of metal detecting! ~fuzzy

Ummmm what are you going to do with that Gold Bug II??? Because you could probably trade it off to get a somewhat better machine than the F2 or Ace 250. That is if it's in good condition.

Forget options and frivolous packages.

I wish I went with Bart. I'll definitely go there when I upgrade to the AT Pro from the Ace 250. That wont be for a while though. The free stuff in their packages is way better. A Lesche digger with your purchase is way better than a bunch of Chinese crap that you can get at the dollar store.

If I lived in the US I would talk with Bart. You could get so much. I checked out Bart's online and drooled over the packages that come with the metal detectors holy cow. For example I checked one store here and the Minelab CTX 3030 was twenty five hundred bucks CD. Just for the machine and what comes in the box. At barts you get lesche diggers and a whack of stuff (all high end brand name stuff not wimpy crap). Aaaand you get to pick which bundle you prefer or you can build your own package. Awesome! And I hear he is very helpful. I have not heard a bad thing about the place.
