Yesterday at a middle school athletic field - found this cool I-don’t-know-what-it-is (Charm?)

Rang up 83 – but don’t believe its silver due to discoloration.

Double sided – two headed snake…..but on closer could be goose/duck heads?

What say you?

Along with 58D wheat I found – rest was clad.

It's a belt fastener, a design that was used in Europe for centuries. Likely an alloy of copper, perhaps a colonial artifact.

Yep, snake buckle. Nice find.

Yes, but its a much more modern looking type. I would say first qrter of the 20th C.

Although generically they are referred to as snake buckles the head types vary a lot & include bird like & other animals.

I was hoping to see you chime in on this. Internet search engines aren't very handy for things like this. Thanks.

Agreed - definitely more modern - the "sides" are flat/smooth - guessing maybe off a civil/revolutionary/ww1/other reenactment uniform maybe?

Still cool - you guys me point in the right direction looking at all the different variations via the google. Good stuff all (as always on TNet)
