I'm looking for some input on the fors vs etrac if anyone has used both detectors. I have been looking at the cores and like what people are saying about it. I own and use my etrac for everyday hunting but would like to have a little less weight at times on certain sites and the cores looks like it might be a good detector for that without loosing all the great things about etrac if you know what I am saying. I'm wanting to know how good is it at coin shooting and depth compared to etrac? How stable is it in black soil, rocky sand soil if anyone has this setup i would really appreciate some info on this comparison and what they would recommend. Thanks

Last summer a guy by the handle of Bill s and WJS ( depending on which forum) made a you tube video comparing the etrac and racer in his local park. Depth was about the same , and also target ID. In fact I thought the Racer was more accurate ID ing aluminum vs nickels in his video. I currently have the racer , and like it. I never owned an etrac, but had an explorer se. Im bonding better with the racer than with the minelabs, If you know what I mean. I think the two would complement each other very well.
I love the weight of the racer, and the way it handles mineralized soils. It does not seperate out the targets in the coin range as well as the minelabs. The price of the racer is also qiute favorable. HH

Wish I could comment on the Etrac but have never had one. Like the looks of it and the functions if that makes sense from what I read and see online. I do own a Fors and this is a simple detector with the functions you can certainly use and need to tweak a bit but not so many buttons you get confused. As to performance......it can detect the smallest of metal fragments in my experience that you would swear it was falsing but as dertermined as I am I keep plunging and sifting to find the item it hit on.

As to separation unit to different objects.......does as well as any machine once you get to know it. I love my Fors.
