In 1916 they still had a lot of horse drawn delivery vans such as Ice, milk, produce, etc. I would guess it was affixed to the one horse delivery vehicle as a form of a license or registration ? If that is the case it is a neat find, probably fairly rare. If not, ???? you got me. I don't know anything about the sneaky spot so no clue there. Monty

I'm afraid we don't know much about the sneaky spot either Monty! all i know is that we have found a lot of old coins there lately dating the spot from the mid 1800s to around 1920 or so. we have found square nails supporting the theory that a building or two might have been there once. i suppose either of your guesses could be correct. easton MD is a very small town on the eastern shore of MD about 2 1/2 hours drive from where the tag was found. my dad actually grew up there! how that for a coincidence! in 1916 there sure wasn't anything going on in easton! its a very sleepy town even to this day. we did send a pic and a letter to the easton historical society. perhaps this thing will make some sense to them. oh ....and thanks for resizing the picture Jeff! ;) and for the guesses.

Evidently badges with statements like that were worn by the people doing the job, I have one for a BUSS Driver (Love the spelling) and my son found one also.
