No, I'm Not Dead! First Time Out Since January

I don't have any excuses ... I just haven't been detecting. I've spent most of my hobby time these past few months on ancestry research.

But today I got the "itch." I got out and hit a yard on a 1930's farmhouse that I got permission for a couple of weeks ago. Not much to tell. Dug about $1 in clad, three wheats, and a 1941 Merc.

My most interesting find was this tiny little lock. Would love any input as to its purpose. It is solid brass and incredibly heavy for its size. No markings at all. It appears to be a sandwich of three brass plates. I'm guessing late 1800's. But that's just a guess. Straighten me out!

Thanks for looking.

P.S. The nickel is just for perspective ... not a "find." Duh. :)

Nice miniature lock find!

That is really cool, don't see a antique lock that small dug every day.
Keep @ it and HH !!

I've put it under magnification. There appears to be a small capital "D" on the right side of the swing loop. Any ideas?
