Thought it might be part of a weathervane? It's heavy. One end fit into something at one time.

Kind of looks like something we would put caps in as a kid and throw it up in the air. when it came down it made a bang! I wonder if it's an older version of that toy?

Never mind? After seeing the pics in the other thread, it doesn't look even close to what I thought.

Those were my thoughts also.

Pretty sure it pre-dates those toys. But I know what your talking about I had them as well.
