My husband found this a few days ago.The metal is fairly lightweight and is one solid piece, 2 and 1/2 inches long, sort of a muddy dark brown color. There is a base on it so it will stand upright. Any guesses?

Maybe it was painted blue? Any way, it reminds me of "The lone Ranger's" toy silver bullet. You would put a sticky cap on the back and load it into your trusty six gun.

Looks very similar doesn't it Sentrom except for what he found isn't indented like the six shooter bullets but I'm not ruling it out. Maybe its a play gun cartridge for another type gun?

You sure it doesn't have a sleeve to go over the lipstick? Check at the base and see if it is indeed, two pieces.

Looks like a lipstick case to me.

Looks like one of the 1950's era nasal inhaler tubes

There isn't anything on the base SkaBa and no sleeve either xr7ator and it is definitely one piece. It did remind me of a Vicks inhaler but it is much too big . The metal is almost black but underneath where it is worn it almost has some bluish green tint to it.

Here's a better picture so you can see the color and texture.

Would there happen to be a tiny diamond at the top? It really looks like the tool a machinist uses to dress the grinding wheel

I know you say its one piece but it looks sooo much like a vintage lip stick tube.

Post a pic of both ends and let use know what the diameter is. Thanks

Y'all I'm thinking it could be a lipstick now. We know the original house was in a fire and the metal could have fused together. Thanks for your thoughts as always.

Yeah, I looked at some pictures of tubes that were in new condition and you cant hardly see a seam where the cap meets the base...they fit tight...they are hard to get open and Ive found some that I never did get open.
