Did a $1000 bag of dimes off a machine, haven't hunted in a while and feeling the itch so called a bank that will sell to me and they had a dime bag, done. So usually don't post much but do want to contribute to the forum as I enjoy all your posts...mostly
So I just end search quickly a handful at a time and don't want to spend my time looking for anything but that sweet Ag. So usually I might miss this phenomenon but just happened to catch a rainbow of painted dimes. I have several of the gold plated ones that I think is cool and keep, but the halves with stickers or painted ones I always throw back. But when I found the yellow one first I thought cool and away ya go to the dump bag. But then came on the purple one and that was a first, especially with dimes and seeing those bright of colors.
Usually it's the halves that are painted, so right up front caught my attention so for the heck of it decided to fish out the yellow and throw them aside. I find having something to look at occasionally helps in the monotony of culling for silver. So still rim searching for silver only went through the bag and ended up by luck finding the rest.
The far left one is like a smoke matte black finished that really looks like it was professional sprayed in a booth...weird. I even rubbed on it to see if it was just fire suet. The second in from the left was actually painted brown...weird
Anyway ended up with 3 rosies 48, 62, 63 and a 00' Canadian dime a few odd items. Enjoy!
