Found this item a long time ago during earth moving at an 1812 site, my immediate thought was it was from a bayonet.
I (re-found it) in my brass stuff and remembered that I had acquired a very old bayonet some time ago they fit together very well what do you think ??….HH....Bonz

Yes. Scabbard tip. Possibly from a Brown Bess bayonet.

Scabbard tips were commonly lost when soldiers sat down on the ground, ramming the scabbard into the dirt.

P1853 would be an Enfield rifle.
