I found this brass lion years ago, so long that I don't remember where, and I've always thought that maybe it sat atop a walking stick. It's about three and a half inches long and you can see two screw holes near the bottom. Any better ideas? I rediscovered it yesterday sitting in a bag with other relics and thought it deserved a little bit of attention!

Too small to be a walking stick topper (I collect them). Looks like a bed post topper or fence finial to me.

Sure.... Let me take some pics....standard is about 4 to 4.5 inches- and thick enough for a standard hand to wrap around.....

With his front legs folded and his chest poked out , could he be part of a door knocker ???

Rampant lion holding a shield. Protector... I'm guessing it is a garden gate finial.
