The day started out little slow but by lunch the old stuff started to surface.....As JIm and I were hitting a few sites he previously hunted the finds were getting slow , then as we were traveling down one of the old roads I noticed an area that just looked good to me. Now having what I can the 6th sence on detecting always helps.....No foundation , no cellar hole remnants of anykind but old trees that didnt belong and some tiger lilies that had spread through out the area....The pic below is of an area we hunted early that morning , it looks to good not to post..Haaha.....I said to jim since were here lets do it...within minutes I dug half a crotal bell silverdollar size, this is a good sign. Moments later I find a small toy iron ( made of lead or pewter) down around 10 inches very deep. Now with the heart pumping a little more I was getting excited knowing the potential it high of finding a very old coin.....as we detectng that was not to be , but I did find down only 4 to 5 inches this Script Artillery 3rd regement button....right next to another old but interesting button.....
With plenty of old pewter spoon pieces and a few other early items including part of an old toypot it was a great placed to detect, i hope to get back there this week and maybe even find that early silver piece.....yehaa
