Great research Bramblefind. I think it may be the inside of a faucet valve or spigot shut off.. :dontknow:

Looks more like a worm-gear tensioner ("Machine Head")- guitar as already stated or perhaps drum head.

Im not positive on the ID but it does seem to be a good possibility. I could not find a connection between Trowbridge and guitars/drums other that the city in England and a modern band member with the same name.
