Hello All.
Myself and a friend of 15yrs have been detecting a historic site for the past 2yrs. Eight of the recent nine outings, my friend hasn't even bothered to call or show up after committing. Today was #8.
Site is large enough, others have been conscripted to help. Time is a major consideration, as relevant finds will be encapsulated mid-October for public viewing.
Not sure about you, but when I confirm to be on site, I'm early!
In haste, I've decided to strike friends name from further consideration.
What would you do?
Thanks
Peace ✌

After the second time... I would be irritated...
there would not be a third.
I would not even invite again...
Find a new partner... or go it alone.

I had a similar situation. Kept doing the same thing you said. I just wrote him off.
Your friend is avoiding you, it's time to move on.

After the second time I would have called to remind him the day before and called the morning of, then if he did the same thing get a new hunting partner.

Thanks but friend cannot avoid. We also work together, as do the other conscriptees.
The point of blatantly not calling or showing is infuriating.
Peace ✌

Go yourself or find someone else.

If your situation is like mine, I can usually hunt at the drop of a hat with nice weather,
although I prefer that hat Drops in Slo-Mo like overnight at least.
As I have a problem with Short term Memory,
and usually forget things when I hear Let's Go Now.
and I don't believe in check lists.

however all my friends are cursed with jobs and/or families
and need more time.

of course occasionally no amount of time can prevent family and certain jobs
from deciding they are more important.

So I've leaned to either Pass up the Hunt or Go myself & hope for the find(s)
that can make them Kick their selves for Missing out :laughing7:

If for some reason you fear to hunt the site alone,
Find someone like me near you :tongue3:

Well at this point, I'm sure your discovering much more treasure then he is! :)

Hello CincinnatiKid,

I feel your pain! Your friend/co-worker is sending you a very clear unwritten message about hunting the historical site, he doesn't want to participate. For the reason? If I may speculate, possibly would involve the fact of all "relevant finds will be encapsulated..." and not able to keep his recovered items. For the part of not calling you, well this type of behavior is plain unacceptable. I hope you and your friend can work out any differences.

Best Regards,

I love baseball and #3 your out!

A friend says he gives everybody a # then start deducting off the # for each time they screw up, when they run out of #'s it's a goodbye.

Working beside somebody makes it a little harder as you have to have some sort of working relationship with them during the work day, and that can be stressful, best of luck on your decision.

Three strikes is a good rule for more than baseball.

Are you using a good quality deodorant and mouthwash? Kidding. You have been more than patient, screw him hope you find a couple gold coins there!

I would tell him discovery channel is gonna film a segment.he has to be there at 4.30 am for pre shoot meeting.wam bam..problem solved.I'm a bit of a,"john henry" about this kind of deal but I would do it and not mention it at work.

I think this is the equivalent of 'he's just not that into you'. Sorry. Time to find someone else.

I never worry about things like that …FOR i never hunt with any one …Over 40 years at this and i am still a lone hunter … And i like it that way ...

Hunt alone or with one or two close friends. Never co-workers. I leave work at work. Period.

A confrontation ensued this day!
Friend declared; since wife purchased new phones, he doesn't know how to retrieve messages. I stated that new phones are irrelevant, as confirmations were given verbally. He left office. ;)
Oh well, glory be mine now.
Thanks all
Peace ✌

what would Jesus do?

I'd stay friendly and civil, but just quit inviting him on any of my hunts.
