In one of my previous post I wrote about how my sons found the back half of a CW button. Well my plan was to go back in my yard and try to find the rest of the button. Unfortunately I did'nt find the rest of the button, however, I did find several pistol bullets and one rifle bullet and some other stuff that I hav'nt cleaned up yet. I was thrilled to find some bullets in my yard I even found two in one hole! These were all found within a 15 foot radius about twenty yards from my house. Who would of thunk it! It just make wondefr what else we can find out there........

oh yea if anybody has any idea what the rifle bullet is please let me know....thanks, -JC

Top bullet looks like a Sharps and the rest look like Colt pistol bullets to me...d2

Thanks for the info d2, I think I need to get some kind of book that has this sort of stuff in it. Any ideas ?

There are several great books out there, one of them is Civil War Projectiles 2 small arms and field artillery with supplement. By W.Reid Mckee and M.E. Mason Jr. I agree with d2 on the identification of the bullets.

Nice collection of bullets. Were you using your Whites XLT? How does it do in the soil in your area?

Thanks everybody for al of the info. Ringfinder I was using my xlt I am very happy with this machine it blows away my fisher. As far as the ground here goes, its very mineralized and I think any machine would be sensative to it but with the XLT there is a lot of options as far as the settings are concerned and you can get peak performance most of the time. On a side note I had marked some targets befor they were dug amd the fisher hardly responded to them.

JC,
Some great bullets, and in your OWN YARD!!! I'd be out there MDing all the time. ;)
Congrats,
MM

JC...I'm wondering if that top bullet looks like the one I posted. It looks like it has those course rings at the bottom. Do you have a closer picture of it?
Great finds....Pretty cool..Keep us posted.
