I went to an old house site that I found years ago and concentrated on the areas that are usually over grown in thorns. This place has been good to me over the years. The ground is bad and there is a lot of iron. I didn't dig a lot but got a brass boot tap, a small brass buckle, some other odd and ends and a nice civil war period New York cuff. Another time that digging an iffy signal paid off as it was in a hole with several nails. Here are pics of before and after it was cleaned

Still a good day. Nice looking button. :icon_thumleft:

Nice button vayank. Glad you were able to get out.

Super button VY!!! The fact that modern detectors can separate good and bad signals is a big plus for hunting today. Your considerable relic hunting experience didn't hurt either. HH, Quindy.

Thanks guys
VOL1266-X Sometime just plain ole dumb luck helps too. ha ha
rtde3 Here's a pic of the boot tap and buckle.
While answering this I heard a bunch or racket on the carport. It was a squirrel hiding walnuts in stuff on a shelf I have out there. I know it doesn't have a thing to do with this post but thought it was funny.

Out standing!!!I need to take some tips from you on cleaning buttons,I am afraid to touch mine!!
Hey I found several of those buckles last weekend and a buddy did some research and found that they were Pantaloon buckles from the bottoms of the legs.He found the Patent info!!

Nice button. It still has a lot of gold gilt on it.
Congrats.

Thaks guys. That ground is kind to the brass.
Kuger, Thanks for the info on the buckle. I thought it might have been a spur buckle. I used a 50/50 mix of water and lemon juice to clean the button. You just have to keep and eye on it and not leave it in to long.
