MM and I hit a park in the noon day sun today. Very hot! I went out later this evening and found this broach. I doubt it's even silver, but it's pretty.

These trinket jewelry pieces are more valuable than you think. MM and I had a yard sale on Saturday and I had some silver and junk jewelry for sale in a display case. It was an interesting experience (selling finds). Most people could care less if things are silver or not. They mainly care about the style of the piece.
Anyway. You should save all your trinkets. One persons trash is another ones bling, and all that. ;)

Good idea about the yard sale thing; we are planning to have ours next month and do I have some pretty jewelry to get rid of! LOL

Reminds me of the one my mom wore. Nice finds!!

Dave,
Congrats on the pin.

FOLKS,
I was truly amazed at Ridleys display of his finds he had out at the garage sale. Nothing short of professional. He had the rings displayed and priced in a beautiful glass and wood case that he made himself. All of his trinkets were strung up with new cords (adjustable) with a few beads as decoration. These were also correctly displayed on a hanging rod display that he made. These trinket pieces were just as cool as the rings. I'm hoping Mr. Ridley will take a few pictures and post them so you can all see what he has done. I could have stared at those displays all day. This guy has talent!!!
Come on Dave, what do you say????????

Cool pin. Vintage ball pump needle. ;D

Interesting about the jewelry but I think MM tipped off your success - presentation. It's just like picture taking - making trash look like treasure with good photography. ;D

I would like to see the display you had set up.

I would have to put all the pieces back in the case again! :D

I should have taken a photo of the set up, but I was really tired during the yard sale. I'll take a shot later tonight if you really want to see it.

Here's some ideas I got from doing the sale the first time.

1. It would be better to have a separate (sealed) case of artifacts (bullets, ect...) next to the stuff for sale. So people would realize this stuff is treasure. Plus it's fun to look at.

2. Tilt the display case forward from the back end. (So people can see the stuff better and also their own reflection).

3. Have a small cardboard list of metal markings and what they mean. I.E 925, STERLING ect.

4. A small pile of business cards. (Metal detection service). This might lead to new hunting locations.

5. A club title on the case might make it more friendly.

Any more ideas on this display idea are more than welcome. Especially from people who might have already done this! ;)
