Except that 43 war nick is silver.

JHof88, I love doing nickels, because not many people are doing them, the dates are easy to read, there are a lot of old (40's & 50's) coins out there, I've had pretty good luck finding war nickels, and they are cheap. Besides, myself, I don't plan on selling any of my coins. I am doing this because I like finding and saving old coins, it's just a fun hobby. I think coin for coin, roll hunting nickels you will find more older coins than pennies, dimes or quarters.

I also prefer nickels, cheap and easy. I had been doing well on cwr, but the source dried up. I was getting one war nickel for every $20 in nickels. This was my first box and I think I'll be doing more.

I've had good luck with nickels. I'm new to coin collecting and found that I really like searching nickels because they yield decent results. I've found some 1930's, 40's, 50's and a V nickel as well as a couple war nickels. I've also been doing dimes but haven't had much luck. My bank roll is only about $150 so maybe I'm not doing enough volume in dimes. I usually pick up a combination of nickels and dimes with that money. In dimes the only keeper I've found was a 2007 cameo mint proof. I started out in this a couple weeks ago with the intent of collecting silver for profit but quickly have changed my focus to collecting coins rather than hoarding silver. I want to collect silver so that I can trade my LCS or sell for coins I'd like to have in my collection. This hobby is addictive but I hope to have a nice collection in a couple years to pass on to my son. He's three and he already helps me sort and roll my coins. Every now and then I have to pay up and give him some to drop in his piggy bank!

Thanks for identifying, I was hoping some one would.

I routinely sell 30's,40's,and 50's nickels for profit. Just sold 2 dollars face for 15 bucks! Crazy I know, but if people are willing to pay, I will sort and sell.

Where did you sell them? eBay, Craigslist?

Craigslist. I can sell anything on there. Lol

Why would someone pay more than face for 30's, 40's, and 50's nickels?

Red amos, Your guess isvas good as mine. I will continue to sell them if I have buyers though.

You did good, in my neck of the woods one War per box is average. As far as Nickels go they are not for everone but they are a fun alternative to Halves or Dimes. It is true they are not as profitable as the other two but it is not all about profit. I once searched one box of Nickels a day for a solid year 365 boxes and found 337 Wars and over 100 Buffs and 3 complete sets plus the last set missing only the 50D, Point is keep pounding the Nicks they are fun, even though most people on here give them little respect. Good Luck.
