The finds are less frequent at the old honey hole these days, so I wanted to spice up my hunt. I decided to concentrate on the lowly "nickel", or nickel five cent piece to be more exact. I know nickels aren't always on the menu for a tab infested park, but what the heck, I might even score a large gold ring. In the more open expanses, targets are thinner and I would dig some foil readings occasionally. I dug every nickel reading, locked on or broken. I ran zero discrimination, sensitivity up and well ground balanced. I dug a V nickel pretty early in to the hunt, then a war nickel, a buffalo, clad, another war nickel etc. etc.. I dug one silver Roosie, 3 war nickels, 1 V, 1 buffalo and a grand total of two dozen nickels. I didn't find the gold, but the hunting was fun.
