I've been wanting to hunt this huge old house in town for a while that was built in the 1870's.
It's apartments now, but recently somebody bought the place and is turning it into a bed & breakfast.
Driving buy the other day, I noticed they had the front lawn tore up as they were adding an additonal
sidewalk across the lawn.
I thought this was my chance and contacted the new owners for detecting permission and they said
"no problem and good luck".
I got a 39 merc right away out of the excavated soil for the sidewalk. Shortly after that a 1866 Indian!
It seems like it probably has been hunted before due to the lack of silver and wheats(a '30 & '40), but digging some REAL iffy signals I managed a 1918 buffalo, 1889 V nickel and a shield nickel that is so worn you can just make out the lines of the shield and a few stars on the other side.
I dug a '72 jefferson nickel to complete the Grand Slam. Probably never do that again!
Fun hunt for two hours with three coins from the 1800's and a bunch of clad also.
