I finally was able to get back out. It has been two weeks since I've dug some dirt. I went back to the area I was at a couple of weeks ago. I decided to search for a couple of the old sites I couldn't find last time. I ended up finding the first pretty quickly and got at it. I ended up getting an 1863 Fatty, 1865 Indian and a nice .69 Caliber Minie Ball. I went on too the next site and out of the entire field I only snagged a 1864 Indian. I decided to walk across the street and hit the other field that had a house and a school. The school netted me another 1863 Fatty. I went to the house spot and started my gridding. Five minutes in I happened to notice a tiny coin laying on top of the ground. Swung the coil over it and it gave me 10-02 signal, which on the explorer is tiny aluminum can slaw. I thought that was a weird number for it to give, so I cleaned it off and holy crap, an 1867 Nickel 3-cent piece. Now I know why those suckers are never found. Hopefully everyone can get out this weekend!!
The knife looks to be either late paleo or early archaic (Leaning Archaic). I'm having the Phd take a look it at for me.
