Friday I went field hunting with my buddy Erich and Jeremy near Wauseon Ohio, we hit some old field sites, and conductive signals were very far and few between. Only got one coin for the whole day but it was a real keeper, 1851 copper, my nicest dug large copper ever. It was a brutally cold day, 30 degrees and 25 mph winds, but when I saw that LC it made it all worth it!
Got a cool button as well "The Knocker" lol

That is!!Great period too

cool button & a sweet LC!

That's nicer than the ones in my collection, great job!

That must have been a fresh drop large cent. Is that brass ring with a buckle a shoulder harness buckle from a gun?

Prime LC, congrats! :icon_thumright: Gotta love those big coppers. And the knocker was the railroad man who went around and knocked on the train to check the soundness of the metal. Often the knocker buttons are pictured with a train. I dug one once, can't locate the pic now.

[h=2]Definition of CAR KNOCKER[/h]: one that taps or knocks the wheels of a railroad car to check their soundness : one that checks the running gear of a train : a car inspector : a car repairman
