Nice ring and quite an assortment this weekend

Highlight of the weekend hunt has got to be the 1884 Sterling silver Ferris Institute Ring (now called Ferris State University). Was also able to unearth 3 wheats, 1 Canadian LC, Couple of old belt buckles, an old copper coffee filter for purcolator, silver plated spoon etc. . .

Thanks Mike, you were a good teacher and I made my own. Maybe I didn't run it long enough but it does look alot better than before. Did a little research and the 1884 is the established date, which does not necessarily mean the ring is that old. However, I suspect it is from the teens-30's because of some of my other finds. Just a gues though. Thanks again Mike - HH

Congrats on the Canadian LC, your second this year! Ferris Institute is actually the third name before becoming a university. It was called Big Rapids Industrial School then to Ferris Industrial School first so maybe your guess is very close as to when that name change was and age of the ring. Nice ring indeed Mark.

Not sure how well you can zoom up but around the logo it says in full: "1884 Ferris Institue Opportunity Industry" so probably after the turn of the century. It's not the most ornate ring by any means but cool none-the-less.
