I wasnt even swinging today
Went out with some fellas from work arrowhead detecting and notice this buried 3/4 in the ground

Yes, a nice, old one well used. Not misused like many of them. It has not been used as a wedge. It has been sharpened many times, wearing away the top of the blade more than the bottom. That's common in well-used axes I have seen, probably because the top contacts the ground and gets dulled more, requiring more sharpening.
Interesting that the stone blade is so much older than the iron axe but found at the same time.
 

The axe head looks like a Baltimore-Kentucky pattern or a Baltimore-Jersey pattern. The profile has been lost due to sharpening, so it’s difficult to say.
What part of the country are you in?
Eastern Ohio Valley?
 

agree the axe style is a Baltimore jersey also called a rockaway.
