Nice Material, I'm Getting Closer

Found this waste flake last year by the ancient fishing spot. Does anyone have a clue as to what kind of material this is?

Nice material.. what area are you in again? It looks like some type of chalcedony.

Cool stuff. You know sometimes it is just a local material. Why I say that is we have a brown and black here that is just in one valley or so we thought till a guy up on the Cumberland dug some. I have a flint drill they call chickamauga black. It looks like KRF and beside KRF seems to be equal to it.
Pretty stuff what ever it is. Yeah you are getting closer

I know that there has been some artifacts recovered in this areas that are made of (I hope this is the right terminology) North Dakota, Knife River Flint. The artifacts are a birdstone, large bi facial blades, polished celts and some projectile points. I haven't seen any of this type of material around here ever. The Amber thing never crossed my mind.... I'm not aware of any amber being native to this area. I thought most of that stuff came from overseas eh?:dontknow:

I can't wait for the (hopefully) pending spring thaw. If I get my hands on that Groundhog..... Let's just say, I'll have some nice new fancy Mukluks for harvesting Moose and Deer next Fall.

Gotta follow the flakes. There should of been a trail if there was anything worth finding. Could of been a random flake otherwise.
