Nice IHP, Nice Barber Dime, Weird Brass Ring

Thirty second curse today....found the 1901 IHP and the 1905 Barber dime right off the bat. Then nothing significant for the next two hours.

Lots of lead...lots of shot gun shells. But also found this strange brass ring... I have no idea what this is? If anyone has ideas, please let me know.

I know that I have seen one of those ring things before but I can’t place it. I’m sure it’ll pop into my head at about 3 am. Good hunting!

I wasn't quite awake when I read your post. If it's brass, it's unlikely to be chain from a bicycle or motorcycle. Though, to me, it still looks like it was a piece of chain of some sort in an earlier life.

I would guess your numbered ring is likely a part of a stamping device,if you were in the woods my shot in the dark would be forestry.

I think we've all had that happen to us.
You either trip over the best find of the day when you just get out of your car or you swing for a few hours without any good finds, then you make a great find on the way back to your vehicle !
