Felt good to get out yesterday. It was nice and warm and a chance for me and my wife to use our new detectors. We had hunted my wife's grandfather's yard yesterday and before we had went up there to try it, she had mentioned the possibility that we might find a few rings up there that she had lost when she was a teenager. I never expected us to actually find two of them. She said there may be more and some were gold so when it warms back up we will hit it again. :) The detectors used for this hunt was the White's Classic II and the Harbor Freight 9 function metal detector. The silver ring is sterling silver and was found by the HF9F. The other ring seems to be plated but has the letter "M" on it for my wife's initial. I know it's not much for a 2 hour hunt but thanks for looking. :)

I should also mention that the Harbor Freight detector although cheap actually did surprisingly well for a $45 detector. My wife is using that one to learn on and actually prefers using that one over the others for right now. It hits surprisingly hard on coins but hits "hot rocks" all too easy as well. I wasn't expecting too much out of that detector. It was a quick buy in the store. But I have to say that I am impressed. Yesterday was also the first time me using the White's Classic II. It took a little bit to get used to where to dig with the standard 8" coil but I already love it lol

Congrats on recovering your wifes teenage treasures. Good luck, let the hunts begin...

Thanks! I need to invest in me a tumbler though. We only hunted a quarter of the back yard. There is still way more land to hunt :)

I just got one of those, wanting to relive the early days of using an analog machine. The HF9F is not bad. I was hitting everything I was hitting with the time-ranger, and I found I was getting back the ear I had for what the coil was passing over.

They're not too bad at all. I like mine. It was a somewhat informed purchase after seeing many reviews on YouTube.

I'm glad I got it. You cant go wrong for the price, and having the two-tones is nice as well.

That's some neat stuff you found there sir :)

Pretty cool that you were able to find your wife's old rings, and looks like a pretty productive hunt overall. At least your finding coins, my place produces a lot of rusty iron.

Great hunt when you find a ring, even better two rings and stuff of your wife's past. They sell a great tumbler at Harbor Freight, I bought and used it to clean all my clad for the bank coin counting machine.
