I WAS OUT TODAY DETECTING RIGHT AROUND WHERE THE BATTLE OF WYOMING IN PA TOOK PLACE IN 1778. I WAS DIGGING UP ONE TARGET AND THEN RECHECKING THE HOLE THERE WAS ANOTHER SIGNAL ABOUT 6 TO 8 INCHES DOWN AND THIS IS WHAT I PULLED OUT I'AM NOT SURE IF IT'S A HATCHET OR TOOL. ANY HELP WILL BE WELCOME THANK YOU RICH 8-)

Whats the approximate size of the blade? Just looking at the pic it looks to possibly be a straight razor. Seems to have some ornation on it?

I moved this request from Today's Finds! over to What Is It? for more exposure.

I really do not know what it is either, but it looks as though you can't hurt it so, soak it in apple cider vinegar, which will remove a lot of the rust and wire brush it, soak again and you may see a whole lot more. I did that for the first time with a "lump" of rust, that had a curved edge on it, and it turned out to be a dandy hatchet head.

Yeah, can't tell if that is part of a socket hole on the end of the tang, or not.
Froe, if socketed ... knife froe if not ... would be my guess.
