Got a big "overload" target on my MXT and this is what I dug up.... It was about 8 inches deep.
I was told 1916 was the second or third year for Idaho metal plates.

Nice find! Now you will have to decide whether to keep it as is or restore it - it looks like it would clean, de-rust, fill, and paint nicely if you decide to go that route. The guy who wrote the Idaho license plate book is a friend of mine and I can get you in touch with him for advice if you pm me. Cool find. My friend said that for every inch down is 10 years so that is pretty right on for you. 8 inches - 80 years. 1916 and 80 is 1996 pretty close. One more inch a 1906 plate. ha.
