Me and the guys are always driving around with old maps looking for old sites. Had our eye on this one where 2 old houses once stood in 1866 but are now a corn field. Corn was harvested and Mark got us permission to hit it and we waited til evening as it's been very hot and muggy. We had a great hunt and found some nice relics. We wanted to go back tonight but were hit by some thunder storms so we will try asap before it get spread with manure. I found an 1858 Canadian Large Cent, seems it's the first year of that one is valuable..lol.. but not this one...drat!!! Always one thing away from a valuable find but that's just not what it's really all about. I also got a little shield and wonder what that could have been. Maybe someone will know or maybe I'll never know. Such are the mysteries of detecting. Here's some pics and a link to the video i worked on today.
Mike found a Crotal bell, a thin possible large cent (we still can't make it out yet), a buckle and a cross. Mark got 2 musket balls and his first Indian Head Penny. A fine outing indeed.

Awesome! Congrats!!

Very nice finds. Congrats.

Congrats on the nice finds and good job on the research.
BUT, how is it that corn in your area is being harvested already? Whatever the case may be, wish crop harvesting was happening here. All my producing permissions have crops growing on them right now.

Boy I would love to have a hunt like that!!
Congrats on the great finds.
