A few years ago, the street where the old hotel used to be was dug up to put a huge culvert in. The dirt was moved into a big pile near our water treatment plant. A few weeks ago they bulldozed the pile into sort of a road over to the lift station. I've been waiting for this dirt to get spread out!

Detecting on rough dirt with no grass reminded me of detecting English fields. Then my first find was the thick coin/pendant thing with the high relief bust- reminded me of a Roman coin for a few seconds. I think I'm having "detecting England" withdrawals. The other side is smooth, anybody have an idea what this is? It was super trashy, can slaw and iron everywhere, as well as broken glass. I also snagged a couple cents. Then I moved over to a more grassy area and found a few other bits. Other than the mosquitos, it was a nice night to be out. The IH cent was found a few nights ago.

Well done JC. Glad to see you out and finding!

Nice digs JC, I can see you keep your eyes open for prospective detecting sites. You never know what's in the soil until you swing your coil over it. Knowing the history of an area and then seeing the dirt moved really paid off for you.

Good hunt!!
