Went to a park today that I've been itching to hunt. When I got there I saw a bunch of plugs that were recently dug. While somewhat disappointed, I chose to detect anyway. Was there for a couple hours and I was surprised by the amount of coins and targets that the other guy missed. I'm sure that this area has been detected a lot, but it was interesting to see that I was pulling out dimes, pennies and quarters sometimes inches from the other guy/gals plugs. Just wonder how much I missed...

I'm still very new to metal detecting, but this was one of my best days. Found a wheat penny, a Cub Scouts Bobcat pin, a ring, and a handful of coins from the early 60's on up. As a bonus, I was able to watch a doe and fawn meander through the park.

Nice finds and you learned one important lesson - your MD'ng (and skill) might be better then the previous MD'er so never shy away from an area that has already been searched. Thanks for sharing...

Hi Wells
Great picture of the deer and some descent finds...ya some guys use very large coils in the park or only have a big coil, and get 2 or 3 target under the coil and only dig 1 and move on...he probable got the pull tab and moved on...that makes you better hunter all ready.... i watched a guy speed walking and swinging like he was weed whipping grass...slow and steady get the good stuff .HH

Looks like a nice day

I was in Forida and decided to do some detecting in a city park early one morning. I was moving slow and really trying to focus(a Newbie and hard of hearing to boot). I was startled when a young woman came up and said "Hey Mister, you want to have a good time?" One look and I knew she was a business woman, I replied "I am having a good time!" It took her a minute then she waved good-bye to me. Funny thing was she only used one finger. Never know what you will find in a public park!

dont ya just love seeing that? Im no professional by any means and i just chuckle inside when i see that.

As we like to say, "no site is ever hunted out"! :hello2:
Sometimes all it takes is a decent detector being used by someone with patience to find what others missed!

Nice post Wells!
