Neat Infantry button - does it have a back-mark like "EML&C Richmond" or was it locally made with no back-mark?

It's an iron back local
Dug another a few weeks ago along with 2 NC buttons

I have a Lewis block I I dug in Rappahonock station

Thanks

Now those my friends are a relic hunter's dream. Congrats:hello:

I'd gladly give up my 60 min. of fake cardboard "cheese burgers" from Mc burger Donalds king or even a biscuit from Bojangles for a short hunt like that! Congrats!

James,
Did you leave me an IH? :tongue3:
Great finds Dude.

Wow! Never seen an "S" hat letter before!

Very nice, James! A confederate button is on my goal list for this fall.

Wow! Can't wait to hear the info on the S. That's awesome, JB! And of course so's the button. ;)
Congrats!
Nana :)

Very cool. What is he "S"? Do not say Shriners either, haha . Great button as well!

Nice Score James , that letter looks likes its pretty thick . Is it brass ? It almost looks like lead ..

Hi Jame, great CW hunting as usual .:dontknow: ok I'll be the first who asks , Company letters on top of Kepi caps are A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and K with J taken out of the mix , is that correct ? :icon_scratch:

what the :censored: is S Company ?

It's my understanding that this letter was used in 2 ways we know of

Early dragoon with
USLD
USLA

And pre - civil war militia units with

VSM
(Volunteer state militia)

So yes there are other letters out there
So it's not particularly a company letter but a scarce hat letter
