Wow! The muck really preserved that buckle! That is an excellent exmple of a colonial shoe buckle.

NIce buckle, I vote BANNER for that one.

This is an amazing recovery, Keith. When you told me on the phone the other day, "It is beautiful," I did not doubt you. This definitely deserves to be on the Banner. That muck is always kind to you, Keith. Great job on preserving it with a passion. This is what makes you a great relic hunter. :icon_thumleft:

Kirk :hello:

Man what they could make with nothen back then...

Very nice condition! There is a very similar buckle on the cover of my buckle book, 1720-1790. HH, Mike

Holy Cow!!! I'd have that one in a frame with red felt backround. (with the leather) Awesome!!! The Hogge

Very nice with the leather as well, pretty sure its not Pewter though.

Still had some shoe attached :o one of the nicest looking brass buckles I have ever laid eyes on  CMD

It may be some other metal indeed--I just am not sure of the alloy! Nice finds youre making Cru!

I agree Will. Those are amazing Keith you got my vote. :headbang:
Thanks for the kind words from you and the others!!

That is one pretty shoe buckle, the leather still there is really neat, hope you preserve that hunk if you can. I agree with Cru, it does not appear to be pewter, more like the normal brass type ones, I have a similar stock type buckle that has ornate marks somewhat similar to the way yours is designed.
