Today's score is this beautiful 18k pendant with a Seleucid Demetrios II Silver Tetradrachm "Bearded Bust & Zeus Seated". The pendant weighs a total of 25.6 grams. The coin weighs approx 14.35 grams according to the link. It is 28mm in diameter. Don't know the exact year it is. I would guess it's a real coin. Don't know why they would set a fake one in 18k.

I'm gonna have to take care of the Estate sale lady the next time I see her. I didn't see the mark before I bought it, but it looked good and it was very heavy. She started fidgeting with it (one of my regular sellers) looking a little apprehensive I thought and said, I think this might be gold. I quickly said, if it is, I'll throw you a hundred next time I see you. She seemed happy with that. If the coin is real then this is about a $600-$800 piece I would think? Gotta narrow down the date though.

Here is a similar one but different year. https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/ro...ust__zeus_seated_year_187/425387/Default.aspx

It’s gorgeous. Very nice find.

One way to tell on the coin is to look at the edge for a seam. There are good fakes made, so its a hard thing either way.

You owe her big time!

I'll see her next weekend and take care of her. Found an identical match to it that sold in 2002. Looks like it was in better condition and uncleaned.

I agree it is beautiful. Congratulations on the find!

A 2000+ year old coin at an estate sale. Regardless of value, that is one of the coolest things I've seen someone find. I would keep it.

Stellar keeper IMO.

Well done.

Thanks, I might. It beats my oldest coin (ring) by a hundred fifty years or so, lol.

Thanks, I may hold on to it a while but who knows. I still have the ring. I just wish the pendant would fit on my necklace. The loop is too small to fit over my clasp though. I need a smaller necklace.

Can't you remove the clasp to string the pendant then replace the clasp? More secure and less likely to lose the pendant if it doesn't slide over the clasp.

I'm sure I could have it done but I'm not quite sure when or if I need to sell it. The necklace is a Cuban link with a double sided box clasp like the one below, so it would definitely have to be done by a jeweler at a cost.
