So today I went out detecting in our snowy weather here in Sweden. It was quite a struggle trying to detect in the snow but I managed to pull up some nice finds.

My best find was a nice c. 1680 to 1720 scalloped rim bronze buckle, unfortunately without the pin and a bit broken:

I also found an unfired practice bullet casing (wooden shot) from the late 1800's and a fancy bronze hook:

I also found one mystery item which you can help identifying for me:

Some other finds was two parts of a silver plated lead spoon and a coin from the 70's:

Thank you for reading and happy hunting!

Mstery item looks like some kind of winder key clock ????? Those are some nice relics Those are the sites that even if you find nothing just the thought of what you could find makes it exciting, Great post

Nice finds, VLDETECTING! Congrats!

The mystery item looks intriguing. It's difficult to envision without cleaning and photos from other angles. It appears to me a box with a nail like projection on one side and perhaps another broken off? It could be some kind of ornate staple. Please clean and present some more views from different angle and a size reference.

We've been seeking the ID of an old kitchen tool., and have exhausted all possible sources in the US. Here's a photo, please halp if you can.

It actually might be that, it has a small size and looks a little bit like a watch winder

another thought remember those old cans where you turned the key thing and it peeled back the lid

I do not recognize those and I don't think the mystery item would be of that age. The field was in use up till the late 19 teens

Very nice relic hunt! :occasion14:

Hi Vldetecting! Nice finds! I wondered how to ID buckles. Yours is from the 1700s? I found this partial buckle but wasn’t sure if it was a shoe buckle or not and its age. Any ideas?ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1540772644.383309.jpg
Thanks.

Thanks.

The age on your buckle is the year 1700 to 1800. I found a positive ID in my book. Your's buckle is a so called two piece buckle. That means that the so called strap bar (the middle thing (pin) in your buckle) is another piece to the buckle and that's why we find them so often without the strap bar. I believe that your holes that the strap bar went in to are drilled, and that the strap bar was made in iron. And I would believe it is a smaller shoe buckle.

Thanks! I wondered if it was a shoe buckle but thought it rather large...2” x 1 1/2 “. It fits the time period of the area hunted. I was bummed not to have the middle bar intact but happy the perimeter was alright. Thanks again. Always learning here.

PS I wish I could help with mystery kitchen tool and item...
