Hey all you New England prospectors. I have been prospecting at Twin Rivers for the past few years but have recently gained access to some land (35 acres) in Sharon, NH that appears to have a few streams located on the property. Anyone ever been to this part of the state or had any luck with gold there? I have looked at some old maps but could not locate any old mines in that area. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

How ya doing? I realize this is a year ago but figured I'd reply with what I have come up with concerning my middle of the road research into Northeast gold prospects/possibilities. From maps that I have looked at, the glacial ice stopped approx. northern half of New Jersey(which is near where I live). The moraine going a little further south. I am located at the Delaware River in Central Jersey across from Bristol,PA. So supposedly, the moraines would be above me quite a few miles. Anyway, the theory is that this glacial ice carried gold from Canada above us down passed your state as far down as NJ. As I looked at maps trying to figure where the main mining plants are in Canada it would seem they are directly above us. So it's a good possibility that you would find fine gold in your area. Better chance than me anyways.
I wish I lived in that area and a few others, LOL!!! I've been looking for potentials of any kind of gold near my local area for last 18 months, when money and time is available. Mainly internet info. (newspaper articles, forums). I am sure, at least 75% anyway, that there is something in this ridiculous state somewhere. Even if I only find fines I'll be happy because I proved myself right. I found an article in a Philadelphia newspaper from the 1800's stating that somewhere near the Naval Yard gold had been found. I tried to find that article again and can't. Figures!!! I hope this little info. helps. Good luck!!! I don't think you need it where you're at though.

State geologist Dr. Broudette. Says anyone good with a gold pan. In N.H should be able to find gold. In most N.H streams. Try to find the book Gold in New Hampshire. He's done some good research on N.H Gold. Its worth buying.
