Next question--best way to dig?

i use a lesche digging tool, but any small trowell should do. after pinpointing your target, cut a u shaped plug into the earth around your target. i usually leave about 2 or 3 inches of dirt on the bottom of the plug. carefully pry the plug up and fold it over onto the ground leaving a portion of it attached. bring a rag with you to put any dirt on that you remove from the hole.after retrieving your target, pour the dirt on the rag back into the hole and re fold the plug back into position. tamp it down and you should barely be able to tell you dug a hole. if the ground is moist the grass will not die and everything will be fine. if it is overly dry, the grass will turn brown and look crappy untill the first solid rain. then the grass will spring back to life. just remember to not dig too shallow of a plug and cut all of the grass roots........hope this helps.

Yes, it helps a lot! Thank you! I will look up "Lesche" tool on the net and see what one looks like and then see if I can find one.

Thanks again,

Mike

glad to help! there are a number of digging tool available specificly for coinshooting. i prefer the leshe because it is very strong and provides a lot of prying power, but it isnt the only tool available. i usually shop at reillys treasured gold. check him out at wwwrtgstore.com as he has a selection of diggers

I use the same "hinged door" method of digging as stated above but I didn't want to spend upwards of $40 on a digger....went to a local ACE hardware store and picked up this digger for about $8, it is strong, thick metal and I have used it for about 2 months with no problems at all.....the digger is made by Corona tools and is model #CT3020....and it has a depth gage on it too

hollowpointred described it just right.

I use this hori hori knife, bought at ACE for 22 bucks. It's made of carbon steel. The one pictured is actually the second one I bought, in case the first one broke. I don't think that will ever happen.
