:read2: I just purchased (I know it is a cheapy, but ya gotta start somewhere) a Bountyhunter. Well, I have been practicing with my own coins and yep, there are beeps. Read the manual, but that's like reading about flying an airplane instead of piloting one. I dug around in my backyard, got mixed signals (dimes, etc), but no luck after digging. I am learning about the concept of the "coil" and how it works. Perhaps I did not dig deep or wide enough? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thinking about heading out to the local park.
I have read the posts and think I have found a group of folks that just like to live life. Glad to meet ya'll.

Nothing wrong with Bountyhunter. I would suggest that you're probably not pinpointing the target properly. Study your manual on pinpointing. Learn to criss cross the target.

my son fisher2 spent most of the summer using a cheap bh and he was finding some great stuff
learning how to pin point is a must
place a coin down on the ground and swing the machine over it
it will beep on each side of the coin watch the center hole and you will see were it beeps
when your outdoors md'ing and you get a hit look and see if there is a stone or blade of grass that keeps getting to the side of the hole when the machine beeps
dig 1 1/2 inches from it in a circle or square ...pull out the plug check the hold with the machine
it takes time to learn the machine
good luck and welcome to the best group on the net they all have been a big help to us

Good luck apush, and don't forget to neatly fill your holes.

I have a bounty hunter, and I love it! I've dug some pretty neat stuff so far.

Thanks everyone. I read your replies and went to the park. $1.44 in clad in 3 hours. It was fun! But, my arm is a tad sore!

Keep swinging and reading. It's a never ending learning curve. A dollar, 44 in clad is not bad in some parks.

Welcome to treasure hunting. :hello:
