I am totally new to this and trying to get the hang of this.

This is my 3rd time out at the same local park. Have covered all the swing and play sets cause we all know kids are bad with change. Also it is a good place to practice cutting the "plug". I've been going back to this park cause I pretty sure it is ok to MD there. Talked with local PD officers and said they said it wouldn't be a problem. (honestly they have more important things to worry about)

This park is loaded with trash and rocks. The stock coil was getting hits all over. The new sniper coil allowed me to raise the sensitivity back to the mid range and gave more direct hits. (thank you all for the sniper coil tip!)

Oldest so far found was a 53' Wheatie.

3rd time out, well I guess your not a newbie now. Looks like ya did alright! Research some areas. Heck go anywhere there is dirt. I look in places where you would never think there would be anything and came out good. Just last summer on a little patch of grass by my house I found a copper spear head. Ya never know unless you detect it. Good luck on your next dig! :headbang:

Soon you will be placing a bunch of coins in your bag on every outing. Welcome :coffee2:Rob

Awesome! Just remember, you will have some learning curve at first. As you start gaining some skill, your finds will only increase in quality and quantity. Pretty soon you will get a great find and you will be so absolutely hooked....i love this hobby.

Congrats on your find and best of luck!

Thanks!
Great info from here and youtube help alot.

There are some ins and outs everyone has to learn I guess. Have seen plenty of dogs off the leash at this park, today was the first one that snuck up on me growling while scooping a hole. I looked right at him and growled back and he took off.

Distinguishing tones and digging more holes were the objectives for today.

Looking forward to the first silver, ring, and a beach hunt this summer.

I keep a small can of pepper spray with me for the really threating dogs !
when they try to bite me or my coil they don't stay long !

it starts slow and the next thing you know you'll be in fast forward. Looks like you are getting the hang of your machine...won't be long now :coffee2:
