Newbie with question!

I would STRONGLY suggest you check with the local authorities or city hall and see if they have any regulations on what is and wht is not allowed. I recently found out from a new friend on this websiite that San Antonio does require a permit to hunt. Thanks Rich and we will hunt together soon!

The city parks in my city are legal to MD in, but I still feel uncomfortable going there when the groundskeepers are on duty. I usually wait till they go home or on weekends.

I was nervous about asking as well, didn't want to get the wrong answer. Finally called the Parks and Recreation department from my city and they said no problem at all.

Parks and such really differ from area to area. I have two parks each within 2 miles of my house; one is ok with hunting the other is not. The difference is that they sit in two different boroughs. The first time I went out to the park permitting hunting I was nervous when a groundskeeper pulled up in his truck but he just wished me a good morning and moved on. If you call there is always a chance that someone might give you a "no" based solely one thier own "Cover you a$$" policy. A good idea might be to call up your local dealer or MD club and ask if they have hunted or delt with authorities concerning a certain public area. Parks are often not considered "secret" locals and they would probably be glad to help you with some info.

Oddfello nailed it, you might call the city 4 different times and get 4 different answers. Problem is, there usually aren't any clear cut rules about it so if you get someone who isn't sure they may take the safe route and say no when they may not even have the authority or the knowledge to make the decision. One thing you could try is letting a city know that you have permission in other surrounding cities, if you actually do, and it may make them not so nervous about telling you it's alright in their city.

By all means, look for a local club in your area. Join and ask questions. You might even be able to hunt areas you didn't even know existed. Best of luck and HH
