if yer new at this you will have to understand that it might be tough to get md'ers to give up any good locations. It's a very competitive hobby for some. Your best bet is to research and maybe talk to any old timers in the area, good luck!

Probably your best bet over there is the big lake when the weather warms. As for prospecting, join the GPAA and you will find many places to get gold.
